THE HUBCAPS — THE MUSIC OF THE 1950s
Step back into the 1950s—the birth of Rock ’N’ Roll, when local radio personalities were cultural icons and WNY clubs were packed with live music.
Historian and author Rick Falkowski takes you on a journey through the music and culture of the era, including stories and interviews with people who were there during the early days of Rock ’N’ Roll.
Joining Rick onstage will be surviving members of Big Wheelie & the Hubcaps, one of Western New York’s most popular bands for decades. Original and longtime members Carol Jean Fremy Swist, Linda Socie, Maylou Saur, Nick Veltri and Sam Guarino will be joined by other performers from the era for a special live musical presentation.
Big Wheelie & the Hubcaps toured nationally in 1972 as part of an oldies package headlined by Chuck Berry and went on to become a legendary fixture of the WNY music scene.
It’s more than a history lesson—it’s a chance to experience the music, stories and performers that helped shape Western New York.
You can’t go back in time. But for one night, you can relive it.
